How the Universe Is Exquisite and How Sometimes We're Not

Here it comes
So Brian Greene (yes, he was the guy whose book signing Sheldon and Amy attended just so Sheldon can make a crack about Physics I think) was explaining something that made the hairs at the back of my head stand and now trying to capture it I don't think I'll rate.

Basta it was from the book The Hidden Reality, and if you can explain something physics-y with words like cosmic heirloom and thundering intensity talking about photons and mesons and bosons and quarks you know you know what Scott Adams was talking about.
Read it and weep

So what Greene was saying in that chapter essentially was (and the problem with audiobooks--yes, I bought it off of Audible, I'm  not cheap--is you can't bookmark a spot) how some remnants of the great big universe-creating explosion of  the Big Bang can still be observed today. How 1% of the white noise you get on TV sets when you're tuned in to a channel that has stopped broadcasting is actually the radiation given off by the universe at the specific moment it was born.

I don't know about you but that just about blows my mind.

In other news, George makes an appearance on Tumblr! This pic was from before he was famous:

George
Now he's got this red feather thing from this head dress I have (don't ask, won't tell) and he acts all cool and stuff. After my two-week leave I have received three separate disturbing reports that George had in fact been disappearing from my desk every now and then to go off and have some adventures of his own.

I don't really ask him about it. I take good care of plants' feelings. I wish I could do a better job with people. People! Now that's another story.

Mood:
P.S. So I have fun with titles.
